In Firefox/Chrome there is an exception if the server you send a request to explicitly allows it (using Access-Control-Allow-Origin *, which Hoogle sends). In IE 6/7 there is no way to retrieve the information without horrible IFRAME trickery, which isn't very flexible, and is very hacky. In IE 8 you can use the XDomainRequest object, but it's annoying to use a different method just for IE (but I probably will eventually...).<br /><br />Part of the problem is that IE6 is still in use, and IE8 is fairly old, whereas no one runs old versions of Chrome or Firefox. New specifications (like cross site AJAX) therefore aren't in IE.Neil Mitchellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13084722756124486154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7094652.post-57538196156219485102011-01-23T17:21:23.566+00:002011-01-23T17:21:23.566+00:00How is IE's security policy different from the...How is IE's security policy different from the other browsers that constrains your script?Wei Huhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13683552196436356037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7094652.post-1082935175620436422011-01-23T15:51:29.084+00:002011-01-23T15:51:29.084+00:00Awesome, fixed.Awesome, fixed.Simon Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09530561702732162135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7094652.post-6192359378447952562011-01-23T15:31:14.002+00:002011-01-23T15:31:14.002+00:00Sorry, I gave the wrong URL's for the Javascri...Sorry, I gave the wrong URL's for the Javascript - they should have been under hoogle/datadir/resources/*.js, not just hoogle/*.js.
